Proclamation of ‘Magic 12’ Senators Set May 17, 2025

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to formally proclaim the 12 winning senatorial candidates on Saturday, May 17, as confirmed by Comelec Chairman George Garcia in a press briefing on Friday.

According to Garcia, the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) will issue formal invitations to the 12 senators-elect Friday afternoon. The proclamation ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m. at The Tent City, Manila Hotel.

“Hinihintay na lang namin yung formal recommendation ng supervisory committee, pero we were informed that they will recommend to proclaim the winning senatorial candidates based on ranking,” Garcia explained.

Official Results: Top 12 Winning Senators

Based on the National Certificate of Canvass (NCOC) released by the NBOC, here are the senators who made it to the “Magic 12” along with their total number of votes:

  2. Bam Aquino – 20,971,899 votes
  3. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa – 20,773,946 votes
  4. Erwin Tulfo – 17,118,881 votes
  5. Kiko Pangilinan – 15,343,229 votes
  6. Rodante Marcoleta – 15,250,723 votes
  7. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson – 15,106,111 votes
  8. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III – 14,832,996 votes
  9. Pia Cayetano – 14,573,430 votes
  10. Camille Villar – 13,651,274 votes
  11. Lito Lapid – 13,394,102 votes
  12. Imee Marcos – 13,339,227 votes

Ceremony Details

The proclamation will be held in a formal gathering attended by media, election officials, and special guests. Each of the 12 senators-elect will be allotted 5 minutes for their victory speech, Garcia said.

The Comelec chairman reminded the public that the rankings and vote counts are based on complete canvassing and verified by the NBOC. The proclamation marks the official start of the new Senate’s composition, with a mix of returning legislators and first-time winners.
