Myra Doria USA McDonald’s journey didn’t begin in an office — it started in a local market in Guagua, Pampanga. As a 10-year-old, she was selling clothes and shoes alongside her cousin during Christmas season rushes. While other children played, Myra was helping feed her family as the eldest of six siblings.
That experience shaped her discipline and grit. Facing competition booth to booth, she learned to stand out — modeling the clothes she sold, arranging displays, and anticipating customers’ needs. After college, her mom took her to McDonald’s for a treat — and secretly submitted a job application. To Myra’s surprise, she was interviewed on the spot. After 11 rounds, she was hired as a management trainee at McDonald’s Dau branch in 1985, earning ₱2,000 a month. Half of it went to her mom; the rest to rent and savings.
She quickly climbed the ranks and eventually became a general manager — proud and grounded, yet confident in every new pair of “shoes” she wore professionally.

Marriage brought her to Guam and then to the mainland U.S., where she had to start from scratch in a culture that often didn’t recognize her. In meetings, she was sometimes the only woman — and the only Asian. She literally had to bring her own chair into rooms that had none for her.
