Manila, Philippines – August 2025
Signal No. 1 remains in Batanes as Typhoon Gorio continues to bring strong winds and gustiness to parts of Northern Luzon, according to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The typhoon is currently located 440 km east of Itbayat, Batanes and is packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts reaching up to 150 kph.

Gale Warnings in Affected Areas
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has issued warnings about the ongoing gale-force winds affecting areas like the Babuyan Islands and the northern part of mainland Cagayan.
Sea travel is risky in these areas, with very rough seas around Batanes and rough seas on the northern and eastern coasts of the Babuyan Islands. Mariners, including those on small seacraft and motorboats, are advised to stay off the water for safety.
Coastal Flooding Potential
Despite the gale warning, PAGASA confirmed that no storm surge warnings are currently in effect. However, high waves near the coast could increase the potential for coastal flooding.
The weather bureau also noted that Typhoon Gorio is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday afternoon or evening.
Public Advisory and Safety Reminders
PAGASA continues to monitor the situation closely and advises the public, especially those in the affected areas, to stay alert and follow local advisories.
