PAGASA Cyclone Forecast

Tropical Depression and LPA Monitoring

Currently, PAGASA is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which has developed into a tropical depression. The depression is located 1,350 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. Fortunately, PAGASA reports that this storm is not expected to directly affect the country.

Impact of the Southwest Monsoon

Alongside the tropical depression, the southwest monsoon is expected to bring continuous rain, especially in parts of Luzon. This weather pattern can cause disruptions and local flooding in affected areas.

Monthly Cyclone Breakdown

According to PAGASA, the cyclone activity will vary over the coming months. The country may experience:

  • Two to four cyclones in September and October
  • Two to three cyclones in November
  • One or two cyclones in December
  • Zero or one cyclone in January

Tropical Cyclone-like Vortex Monitoring

From August 1 to 7, PAGASA is watching for the development of a tropical cyclone-like vortex. Although there is a low chance of it becoming a full cyclone, it could enter the PAR from August 8 to 14.

Conclusion and Safety Reminders

PAGASA urges everyone to stay informed and prepared as the cyclone season continues. It is always best to follow official weather reports and take necessary precautions during heavy rain and storms.

Stay safe and monitor updates from PAGASA for the latest forecasts and warnings.
