MANILA, Philippines – July 2025
Rep. Sonny Lagon has strongly denied any involvement in the missing sabungeros case, rejecting whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan’s allegations as false, defamatory, and irresponsible.
The Ako Bisaya Party-list representative took to Facebook to address the accusations, asserting that they were not only misleading but also damaging to his reputation.

Lagon’s Response to Patidongan’s Allegations
In his statement, Rep. Lagon categorically denied the claims made by Patidongan, who had implicated him in the alleged meeting of Group A connected to e-sabong and the missing sabungeros. Lagon emphasized that Patidongan’s characterization of him as an “illegalista congressman” was both untrue and unfair.
Legal Involvement in E-Sabong and Lagon’s Record
Lagon explained that his involvement in e-sabong is entirely legal, with his business operations tied to Lucky 8 Star Quest Inc., a company licensed by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).
He further stated that he has been a law-abiding gamefowl breeder since 1998 and has never participated in any illegal activities related to cockfighting.
Denial of Violence and Alleged Conspiracy
Rep. Lagon also rejected any suggestion that he was involved in any form of violence or conspiracy related to the missing sabungeros. He stressed that there had been no meeting, no vote, and no discussion involving violence against anyone, and he condemns such acts in the strongest terms.
Contradictions in Patidongan’s Statements
Lagon pointed out the contradictions in Patidongan’s previous statements, especially regarding the involvement of congressmen in the missing sabungeros case. This inconsistency, according to Lagon, further invalidates the whistleblower’s claims.
Reaffirming His Commitment to Public Service
In his statement, Rep. Lagon reaffirmed his commitment to serving the Filipino people through his role in the Ako Bisaya Party-list and emphasized that he has always acted in accordance with the law.
He called for more responsible statements from individuals involved in the case, stating that the sabong community deserves respect and justice.
Conclusion
While Rep. Lagon denies all allegations, the investigation into the missing sabungeros case continues, and the role of e-sabong in the issue remains under scrutiny. The ongoing dialogue surrounding the case highlights the need for truthful information and responsible communication to bring clarity to the situation.
